2009 Trip to England

- Stereotypical London Tourists - Stratford-upond Avon - The Worcester & Countryside -

Our hotel was on Friar St., and a few doors from one of the houses were the Benefict monks lived after being tossed out off church lands by Henry VIII.

I learned that the crooked lines of many of these "black and whites" is due to a builder's concession to a fine timber, and not the result of age or faulty construction; i.e. better to rework the building's design a bit, to accommodate a particularly strong, large timber, that to stay faithful to an original design for no good reason other than its having straight lines on paper.

The weather was great and the people like family. Here we have dinner at Georgina's parents home in Worcester.

Worcester has a number of buildings dating back to the 1500s. Falcons nest in this tower.

This shot of the cathedral was taken from what locals call the St. Johns side of Worcester. The Severn is England's longest river.

This is a view north and eastward, from the Great Malvern Hills. Thanks again Dave.
